whole life will last your whole life….term insurance will last for a term of time. It’s that simple. You just need to decide how long you need coverage for and buy the plan that suits.
If you want coverage forever then look at a universal life with guarantees…which will be far cheaper (and better) than a whole life policy.
In order to tell you which is best to get, I would need to know your exact circumstances and needs. You need to factor in your timeline, your budget, the reason for life insurance, the amount of life insurance needed and numerous other factors to determine which would be best for you. You may need a combination of both. Never trust anyone blindly tells you that you should only buy term or you should only buy whole (permanent) life. These people do not truly understand the difference or the purpose/benefits of each type of policy.
As far as the difference between the two, follow this link and read the “Best Answer” given by Chris C. It is one of the best answers to that question that I have ever seen.
